How Our Masonic T-Shirts Are Made

· 2 minute read

Every shirt in the store starts as a drawing and ends as a print made after you order it. Nothing sits in a warehouse. This is what happens in between, since the questions we are asked most are about the shirt itself.

The artwork

Each design is drawn for the store and belongs to it. The Archives and Square and Compasses plates are drawn in the manner of an antique codex page, in fine sepia line with gold and midnight blue reserved for the central emblem, and every instrument in their margins is a real one with the right number of parts. The States designs set the emblem among the landmarks of each state. The print file for every design is cut to the size it prints at, ten inches wide at most, at three hundred dots to the inch, so what you see on the product page is what lands on the fabric.

The tee

One shirt, the Classic Everyday Tee: one hundred percent ring spun cotton at five point three ounces, midweight, pre shrunk and tagless, in a classic unisex fit that runs true to size. It comes in black, white and navy, in sizes from small to three extra large. Gold artwork reads strongest on black and navy, and the codex plates read like ink on paper on white.

The print

Shirts are printed to order in Florida. The print sits on the upper chest at standard placement, centred, with its top edge about three inches below the collar seam, and is at most ten inches wide and twelve inches tall. That is the size the product photos show, since they are built from the same print file at the same scale rather than mocked up by hand.

Care

Machine wash cold, inside out. Tumble dry low. Do not iron the print. Treated that way the print outlasts the collar.

Shipping and returns

Because every shirt is printed after the order, there is production time before shipping. The shipping page has the current production window and rates, and carrier rates are shown live at checkout. Unworn shirts can be returned within fourteen days of delivery, and a damaged or misprinted shirt is replaced at no cost. The returns page has the details.
